Building on the first part of the project, imagine that you are part of a hypothetical team, and you must now create the pre-departure training program for international assignees leaving the USA to work in your team’s designated country, either Mexico or Canada. Consider the home-country the United States, and most international assignees will be of US origin (although, of diverse ethnic backgrounds).

  • You must include training on cross-cultural communication.
  • You must include training on cross-cultural team management (assume little current experience.)
  • You must include training on remote team management and project management (assume little current experience.)
  • You must include training specific to the culture of the assigned country.

Be creative as to how you will assist in training the international assignees. Do not feel obligated to create all the materials, but instead look into different exercises, assignments, etc. that may be employed. You may also wish to consider combining pre-departure work with daily assignments, or even continued training for a period of time after the international assignee has arrived and is working overseas in the country you have chosen.
